Wicket bags are pre-opened poly bags mounted on a wire wicket frame for high-speed automated packaging lines. The bags hang on two metal prongs (the wicket) that hold them open and ready for filling. As each bag is filled, it is pulled off the wicket and the next bag is automatically in position.

How Wicket Bags Work

The wicket frame holds 250-500 bags at a time. The bags have two small holes punched near the top that slide onto the wicket prongs. Automated filling equipment drops the product into the open bag, the bag is heat-sealed, and the filled bag drops onto a conveyor or into a box. The process runs at speeds of 30-80 bags per minute depending on the product being packaged.
