Poly tubing is a continuous tube of polyethylene film supplied on rolls. You cut it to any length and seal one or both ends with a heat sealer to create perfectly sized bags on demand. This eliminates the need to stock dozens of pre-made bag sizes, simplifying your packaging inventory and reducing waste from oversized bags.
The key advantage of poly tubing over pre-made bags is infinite length flexibility. If you package products that vary in length — lumber, pipes, curtain rods, fishing poles, moldings, architectural trim, signs, rolled posters, or any item where the length changes from order to order — poly tubing lets you create a perfectly sized bag for each item. You simply pull the tubing off the roll, cut at the right length, insert the product, and seal the ends. No more folding over excess material or using bags that are too short.
Our poly tubing is available in flat widths from 2" to 24", which translates to circumferences from 4" to 48" when open. The flat width measurement is the width of the tubing when it lies flat on a surface — the actual opening when expanded is twice the flat width divided by pi, but in practice you should choose a flat width that is slightly wider than the widest dimension of your product. Gauges range from 2 mil for standard applications to 4 mil for heavy or sharp items.
All tubing is manufactured from crystal-clear LDPE resin for excellent product visibility. FDA-grade tubing is available for food contact applications, making it suitable for bakeries, food processors, and any operation that needs custom-length food-safe packaging. The virgin LDPE material meets 21 CFR 177.1520 requirements when specified as food-grade.
Poly tubing is supplied on rolls, with roll lengths varying by tubing width and gauge. Narrower, lighter-gauge tubing comes in longer rolls (up to 1,500 feet), while wider, heavier tubing comes in shorter rolls (250 feet).
